Viola Vi Holloway, longtime resident of the Fairfax area and current resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012 in Oklahoma City. She was 77 years of age.
Vi was born October 22, 1934 in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Patrick Lizotte and Obelwe Cavason Lizotte. She was married to John Chief Holloway on June 1, 1954 in Yakima, Washington. The couple made their home for many years in the Fairfax and Ralston communities. She was a member of the Pahsulee Native American group. Her enjoyments were her family, cooking, sewing, camping, fishing, fourwheeling, garage sales and playing bingo.
She is survived by her six children, Donna Mae Larson and husband Butch, of Snohomish, Washington, Howard D. Holloway and wife, Lynn, of Pawhuska, Bessie Holloway Potter and husband Roger, of Grayhorse, Mary Stone and husband Pat, of Fairfax, Lisa Bennett and husband Mike, of Altus, Oklahoma, and John Popper Holloway III and wife Leslie, of Fairfax three sisters, Patricia McCawley, Julia Cram and Sarah Umphry 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, John Chief Holloway on April 23, 2001 her siblings Melvina, Lester, Leona, Harvey and Herbert.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the First Osage Baptist Church in Fairfax with Rev. George Weston presiding. Interment will follow in the Grayhorse Cemetery under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home in Fairfax.
Casket bearers will be Howard Holloway Jr., John Michael Kojac Holloway, Michael Bennett Jr., Taos Barrone, Mike Bennett Sr. and Matthew Bennett. Honorary casket bearers will be King Bowman, Mark Bowman, Jerry Shaw, John Wedd, Paul Yates and Dale Higgins.
