Veta Anne Weaver

June 3, 1940 — February 10, 2024

Shidler

Veta Anne (McKinney) Weaver, a beloved member of the Shidler community, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024. She was 83 years old at the time of passing and had recently been residing at the Heritage Villa Care Center in Bartlesville. Veta's life was filled with love, joy, and countless cherished memories.

Born on June 3, 1940, in Fairfax's Lipp Hospital, Veta was the seventh child of Benjamin Franklin McKinney and Leona Bernadetta (Taylor) McKinney. She grew up in Fairfax and attended Fairfax Schools. During her high school years, Veta worked at the TallChief Theater. In 1958, she graduated with pride as a member of the Red Devil Class.

Shortly after graduating, Veta married the love of her life Boyd Isom Weaver Sr. Their wedding took place on August 22, 1958, at the First Presbyterian Church in Newkirk. To this union they were blessed with two sons named Boyd Jr. and Buck and a daughter named Beth Ann. They celebrated fifty joyful years of marriage until Boyd's passing in 2008.

Veta possessed a loving and nurturing spirit that she shared with many as she worked as a caregiver and daycare teacher at Miss Nan's Daycare Center in Ponca City during the 1980s. Later, she continued her career at D & M Daycare in Fairfax with owner Mary Davis until her retirement in 2002.

Veta had a deep faith in God and was an active member of the Webb City Church of God for years. She devoted her time to teaching Sunday School to two- and three-year-olds during the 70s and early 80s. Her favorite Bible verse, Psalm 103, resonated deeply with her.

In her free time, Veta loved going on adventures with her husband and sons. They would hunt for arrowheads and explore local garage sales together. As time went on, she also enjoyed spending quality moments with her sister Madeline shopping in Fairfax and embarking on treasure hunts at various yard sales.

Veta will be deeply missed by her son Boyd Jr. and his wife Carol, as well as her grandchildren Kerri Pugh and husband Matt, Dusty Kennedy and wife Cindy, plus five great-grandchildren all of Hobbs, New Mexico. Additionally, Veta’s extended family, including her sister Madeline Yandell and brother Glenn McKinney, numerous nieces, nephews, and other loved ones, join in gratitude for having been a part of her extraordinary life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Leona McKinney; her beloved husband Boyd Sr.; her dear son Buck Ben Weaver; infant daughter Beth Ann; as well as several siblings: William Monroe McKinney, Benjamin Franklin McKinney Jr., Theodore Melvin McKinney, Albert Marvin McKinney, James Roy McKinney, Edwin Leon McKinney, Leonard Ray McKinney, and Mary Lou (McKinney) McInturf.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 14 at the Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home Chapel in Fairfax. The specific time will be announced later. The Graveside Service will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 15th, at Foraker Cemetery. Pastor Roy Peters will officiate the service.
