Vada Rose Robertson of Webb City, went home to her Savior, Saturday, June 5, 2010, surrounded by family. She was born March 19, 1932, southwest of Pawhuska on the Atlantic Field oil lease, and lived her entire life in Osage County. She attended Pawhuska schools, and as a senior while waitressing at a downtown hotel, received a five dollar tip from Hollywood actor, Ben Johnson.
She married Bobby Moore Robertson, April 5th, 1951, and remained loyally so until her passing. They celebrated fifty nine years of marriage in April.
She was postmaster of the Webb City and Burbank post offices for thirty two years, and retired in 1987. She was also a dedicated homemaker, excelling in cooking, gardening, canning and sewing. During retirement, she took up porcelain doll making, which she enjoyed with friends. She loved to camp and fish with her family, and in 2001, she won first place at the Lake Canton Walleye tournament, landing a seven pounder of which she was very proud.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and devoted her life to the teachings of Jesus. She is survived by her husband Bobby Moore Robertson, of the home sons Scott Alan of Oklahoma City, Ed of Broken Arrow, Joe of Tulsa sister Cora Lea Sally Woodrell and her husband Don of Bartlesville, sisterinlaw Lorene Kinder of Ponca City, grandson Alex Duffy of Edmond, granddaughter Caitlin Anne Robertson of Tulsa and several loving nieces and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lara and Cora Jenkins Kinder and brother George Kinder.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, June 7th and from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Shidler United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Shidler United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Moody presiding. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City. Arrangements are under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home in Fairfax.
Casket bearers will be Don Woodrell, Ray Ratliff, Dean Crain, Joe Sires, Holton Payne and Richard Hammer. Honorary casket bearers will be Bill Eden, Sonny Holloway and Louis G. Stone.
Vada would have preferred that instead of flowers, donations be made to the Shidler United Methodist Church, or to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, Inc., 1904 N. Union, Ste. 103, Ponca City, Ok., 74601.
