Timothy Mark Conover of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, passed unexpectedly on the afternoon of January 1, 2019 while a patient at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla., following a brief illness. Tim was 64 years young.
He was born on Saturday, August 28, 1954 to parents Kenneth Harold and Pauline (Stepp) Conover in Princeton, New Jersey. After graduation, he worked for the family business (Ken Conover and Sons) for a period of time before moving to Oklahoma.
Timothy married Marla (Shotts) Conover, on May 10, 1975 in Broken Arrow, Okla., where the couple made their first home. They had two sons, Jason and Kevin.
He taught his sons to hunt, to fish, to love nature, and to just be thankful for family. He took great pride in spending quality time with his family and sharing life lessons.
Starting in 1975, Tim worked at Bradley Chevrolet in Broken Arrow, Okla. as a transmission mechanic for years before becoming self employed as a Mac Tools distributor. Then he became a safety instructor for Arrow Trucking where he was able to use his amazing mentoring abilities to jump start numerous people's careers. At the time of his passing, Tim worked for RailCrew Xpress as a shuttle driver for BNSF railroad out of Tulsa. He transported the locomotive engineers to their trains all over the region.
He was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Mannford for the past several years. He loved the Lord and one of his favorite past times was sitting on the front porch while watching God's great creation, especially the tiny hummingbirds.
Loved ones that cleared the path for Tim are his parents; two brothers, Raymond and Roy; and one sister, Joyce. Loved ones that will miss Tim until they meet again are his wife of 43 years, Marla of the home; two sons, Jason and daughter in-law Beth Conover of Coweta, Okla., Kevin Conover of Edmond, Okla.; one grandson, Brennen Conover; one brother, Paul Conover of Vermont; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home, 201 N 4th Street in Fairfax, Okla. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the First Christian Church of Mannford, Okla., 511 Greenwood Ave. with Larry Haney officiating. Pall bearers will be Kevin Conover, Jason Conover, Paul Conover, Kyle Shotts, Dave Turner, and Joe Jones.
Most who knew Tim can relate well to the prayer the family has included here, as we collectively reflect on the spirited life of the husband, dad, friend and granddad, we all love and will dearly miss
Fisherman's Prayer
"God grant that I may fish until my dying day.
And when I come to my last cast,
I'll then most humbly pray.
When in the Lord's safe landing net.
I'm peacefully asleep.
That in His mercy I'll be judged
As good enough to keep."
We have no doubt that Tim is a keeper!
