Shirley Harry, 86, beloved Mother, was called to her eternal resting place on February 14, 2023, she passed at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Shirley entered this world on September 28, 1936, in Skeedee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Albert and Juanita Cook. After school she met Jack Nels Harry, and the two were wed in 1952. Together they made a home in Ralston, Oklahoma, where she raised their 8 children. After his death she relocated to Ponca City, Oklahoma and began working for Higdons florist. There she met her companion of 33 years Bob Bussey. Shirley then became a private caregiver and had several clients in Ponca City.
Shirley put her heart and soul into her family and loved every second of it. Always working hard for them she was an excellent cook, baker, seamstress, and homemaker, all while nursing two sons that had multiple heart surgeries. Nothing was more important to her than her children. Shirley was such a strong woman and kept going on while having the heartbreak of burying four of the children, which no mother should have to do. She was the very definition of an amazing mother.
Shirley managed to find time to relish in the joy of planting flowers every spring, relaxing on the porch swing, collecting Elvis memorabilia and glass trinkets marked "Jodi" on the bottom. Her children never left her home without getting a "treasure" from her "Give Me Room", a full tummy, and a spirit refreshed with love. "Our hearts are broken, and we will all have to find a way to live without our precious mother Shirley Jane."
Shirley was preceded in death by her Husband Jack Nels Harry; two sons George Nelson and Herschel Todd Harry; two daughters Juanita Ruth and Debra Jane; her parents Albert "Slim" and Juanita Cook; her stepmother Erma Cook; two brothers Ben and Harold Cook; one infant sister Edna Faye; two grandsons Damion Lamar and Hershel Todd Jr.; and great-grandson William Todd Harry.
She is survived by Bob Bussey of the home; her children Bill Harry and family, of Bartlesville, Barbara Steen and husband R.W. and family, Tami Case and family, Jodi Smith and family, all of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Also left to cherish her memory and carry on the legacy of their adored Granny/Grandma Shirmey, are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, as well as her brother Larry Cook and wife Janet, of Oklahoma City; sister Mary Vincent, of Amarillo Texas.
