Ruth Irene Ray Reed passed away at Fairfax Manor in Fairfax, Oklahoma on February 24, 2013 at the age of 83.

The daughter of the late Bill and Nora McHargue, Ruth was born June 21, 1929 in Dewey, Oklahoma. She was the last survivor of four children, preceded in death by the late Ann McHargue, Flora Jane McHargue, and Billy Jo McHargue.

Ruth met Roy Major Ray in 1945, and was married December 27, 194 in Burbank, Oklahoma where they settled for 36 years until Roys passing in 1981. In their 36 years of marriage, Ruth finished school and went to college, receiving her L.P.N. and R.N. licenses while raising three children Ralph Ray, Roy Ray, Jr. Snook, and Roger Ray. Ruth began working at Fairfax Manor nursing home in June 1967, and later became the Administrator for the nursing home. She held this position for years.

After the passing of Ruths husband, Roy, in 1981, she moved to Fairfax, where she married Buck Reed on September 12, 1986. After retiring from the nursing home in 1982, she was a stay at home wife until the passing of her husband, Buck, on February 14, 1998. Ruth then started caring for her great grandson, Justin Ray, with the help of her son, Snook. Ruth and Snook have cared for Justin since 1999 in Fairfax, where he still resides with Snook.

In addition to her husbands and siblings, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Nora McHargue. Survivors include three children Ralph Ray and wife, Linda, of Pueblo, Colorado, Roy Ray Snook of Fairfax, Oklahoma, and Roger Ray four granddaughters, Shannon Ray Collyar and Matt Eads of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Tammy and Wayne Anderson of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Roshell and Mike Spoone of Pueblo, Colorado, Sarah and Greg Rostad of Castlerock, Colorado grandson, Brian Ray of Pueblo, Colorado three great granddaughters, Brittnee Stierwalt of Newkirk, Oklahoma, Cidney and Kiley Collyar of Tuscaloosa, Alabama three great grandsons, Justin Ray of Fairfax, Oklahoma, Wrangler Collyar of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Nicholas Rostad of Castlerock, Colorado.
