p classMsoNoSpacing stylemargin: 0in 0in 0ptDean was born on August 21, 1931 at Ft. Morgan, Colorado, the son of William LeRoy Ferguson and Nellie Viola Foster Ferguson. He attended Central Grade School in Ft. Morgan before completing 7th and 8th grades at the Wiggins School, a one room schoolhouse in Adena, Colorado. He attended Ft. Morgan High School, but quit his senior year to join the Navy on September 22, 1948. He was stationed at N.T.C. San Diego, California, Guam, Marianas Island, and Kwajalein, Marshalls Islands, and received an honorable discharge from Treasure Island, California on November 17, 1949.p

p classMsoNoSpacing stylemargin: 0in 0in 0ptFollowing his service in the Navy, Dean resumed his education. He received his G.E.D. from the college in Greeley, Colorado in 1959. He attended Bethany Nazarene College now Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma from September 1961 until May, 1965. He completed additional courses at Vernon Regional College in Vernon, Texas.p

p classMsoNoSpacing stylemargin: 0in 0in 0ptDean was saved in a revival meeting in the fall of 1951 at the Church of the Nazarene at Ft. Morgan, and joined that church a short time later. While living in Greeley, Colorado he attended the Sunny View Church, where he received the call to preach on December 30, 1960. While in college at Bethany Nazarene, Dean served the Lindsay and Blanchard churches Southwest Oklahoma District. After graduating, he became pastor at Fairfax Church of the Nazarene Northeast Oklahoma District. p

While there, he resigned the ministry and moved to Lovington, another New Mexico town where he worked for Gandy Oil Field Service as a welder, and later as a ldquopusherrdquo or manager. He then returned to Fairfax to work for Glen Bowers. While there, he received a call from the church, asking him to be their pastor again. He accepted.p

p classMsoNoSpacing stylemargin: 0in 0in 0ptOn October 11, 1973, Dean married JoAnne Hundley. In the summer of 1974, they moved to Coweta, in the Northeast Oklahoma District, where he remained until April, 1978. Other church posts included Quanah Texas West Texas District, Vernon, Texas until 1988, and Hennessey Northwest Oklahoma District. He retired in 1999, and the couple moved back to Fairfax. Dean was a devoted member and pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, which he served for over thirty years. He loved people, carpentry work and being outdoors.p

p classMsoNoSpacing stylemargin: 0in 0in 0ptDean is survived by his wife, JoAnne of Fairfax daughter, Cynthia Kay ldquoCindyrdquo Ferguson Hoschover of Greeley, Colorado son, Marvin Gene Ferguson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma seven grandchildren six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents one brother, Guy Davis Ferguson, and one son Mark DeWayne Ferguson.p
