Regina Lynn Hutchison, age 72, longtime Fairfax, Oklahoma resident, passed away December 28, 2024, in a Tulsa hospital with daughter Amanda and niece Ashley by her side.
Regina “Lynn” as she became affectionately known was the eldest of ten children born to Bryan Americus and Lou Vena (Head) Hutchison in Vester Kentucky on June 8, 1952. The family made their home in Delaware County Okla. for a time until settling in the Ralston/Big Bend area. Regina was a tom boy growing up, she attended Ralston Schools and graduated with the Class of 1970.
On February 22, 1972, she married Phillip McMurray in the Owasso Baptist Church with sister Nancy and Phil’s cousin Keith Holland as their witnesses. The young couple lived in Tulsa for a time. Their first child Phillip Wesley McMurray Jr. was born in October 1973. They made their home in Hominy and in June 1979 were blessed with a 2nd child Amanda EmmyLou (McMurray) Petty.
Regina was a diligent worker. She was an LPN and loved to be around her coworkers and patients. Her work included Pawnee Hospital, Fairfax Hospital, and Fairfax HomeHealth. She loved to spend time with her home health patients. She spent hours outside gardening , she was an avid reader. She shared her love of Stephen King with her nephew David Webb. She loved her family; nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her people. She was always cooking, loved to make candy to give at Christmas. Regin and her mother-in-law enjoyed working with ceramics whether it was pouring them, firing them or painting the finished product. She had the prettiest handwriting. She loved watching cooking shows and Dexter. You could find her sometimes going to the Casino for a Concert with Gayle Hutchens even gambling on occasion. She loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her little dogs Raven and RJ meant everything to her. She loved spending time with her dearest friend - Mary Jo Webb who helped her with her transition to being a Catholic which brought Lynn great happiness. They enjoyed attending Mass together, sitting out on the porch gossiping or out cruising the town.
Survivors are her son Philip “Wes” McMurray Jr.; daughter Amanda Petty and husband Jerry Don Petty; grandchildren Leslie Fast, Kelsie Blount, Jazmin McMurray, Nicholas Clark, Patrick Petty, Johnathan McMurray, Jordan McMurray; great grandchildren Tyler Blount, Ezra Blount, Micah Tolson, Nicco Tolson, Axel Smith, Logan Petty, Elana McMurray, Paisley McMurray, Leo McMurray, Saige McMurray, Oliver Clark, Willow Clark, Elowen Clark; her siblings and their spouses Bryan (Shelly) Hutchison, Mattie (Calvin) Brown, Nancy (Gerald) May, Betty Hutchison, David (Jennifer) Hutchison, Micheal (Kim) Hutchison, Dorothy (Danny) May; and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Philip Wesley “Flea” McMurray, Sr., two brothers John Charles Hutchison and infant William Robert Hutchison, nephew Chris Brown, and in-laws James and Blanche McMurray.
Visitation will be held 10am to 7pm, Thursday, January 2, 2025, in the chapel of Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home, Fairfax. A funeral service 2pm, Friday, January 3 at the Catholic Church with Father David Carvajal officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairfax City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jordan McMurray, Johnathan McMurray, Patrick Petty, Jerry Don Petty, Nicholas Clark, Beau Domeny, and Jake Bethel. Honorary are Jason May, David Webb, J.D. Hutchison, Jake Hutchison, Bryan Hutchison, John Hutchison, Bobby Hutchison, Jesse Badley, Perry Badley, Kelly Larue, Shane Larue, Cole Hutchison, Lane Hutchison, Richard Domeny, Jay Badley, and Danny May.
