Philip Wesley Flea McMurray Sr., longtime resident of Fairfax, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa. He was 58.

Philip was born February 26, 1952 in Artesia, Arkansas, the son of James Robert McMurray and Blanche Hess McMurray. He attended the Fairfax Schools where he participated in band and was a 1972 graduate. He attended Northeastern Oklahoma College at Miami, Oklahoma and became a certified welder through the Tulsa Welding School. He served his country in the United States Army. He was married to Lynn Hutchison on February 22, 1972 in Owasso, Oklahoma.

Flea was employed through the years as an offshore driller, working at various locations around the world that included England. He was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America, Local Union 1202. He was a member of the Fairfax Methodist Church. His enjoyments included his grandchildren, watching television, old movies, playing his music, fishing, and visiting with friends, especially Carl Daley.

He is survived by his mother, Blanche Sadie McMurray one son, Philip Wesley McMurray Jr. and wife, Dena one daughter, Amanda Petty and husband, Jerry Don his former wife, Lynn McMurray nine grandchildren, Leslie Fast, Kelsie Fast, Nicholas Scott Clark, Logan Petty, Lane Petty, Galin Petty, Jordan McMurray, Jazmin McMurray and Jonathan McMurray. He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 in the chapel of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.

Honorary casket bearers are Jay Badley, Carl Daley, Jason May, Jeff McInturf, Larry Dooley, Terry Dooley, Mike Hutchison, Russell Davis, David Webb and Jerry Petty.
