Norma Lee Smith, longtime resident of Fairfax, passed Saturday, July 27, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years of age.
Norma was born September 26, 1923 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, the daughter of K.T. Clark and Nora Belle Claypool Clark. She moved with her family to the Fairfax area where she received her early schooling. She was married to Sherman Scott Smith on November 27, 1940 in Fairfax.
Norma was employed some 54 years in the Fairfax school cafeteria where she impacted the lives of numerous young people. She was a longtime active member of the First Osage Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school and was very interested in the church youth activities. She was a past member of the Eastern Star and Womens Golf Association. Her enjoyments were her grandchildren, having followed and supported them in numerous sporting events and activities. She also enjoyed other children outside her family and was always willing to support their endeavors. She also enjoyed playing bridge and golf.
She is survived by her three children, Tom Smith of Fairfax, Sandra Clapp and husband David, of Bartlesville, and Patricia Daley and husband Carl, of Fairfax eight grandchildren, Susan Franks and husband Jerry, Ted Smith and wife Raeanne, Rachael Hutcheson, John Clapp and wife Dana, Jay Clapp and wife Kara, Kristin Applegate and husband Mark, C.J. Daley and wife Jennifer, and Greg Daley and wife Cindy great grandchildren, Sidney Hazen, Austin Franks, Joseph and Haley Smith, Ben Goodeagle, Owen Hutcheson, Nikki, Kayla and Jacen Clapp, Kyler, Branden and Rylee Clapp, and Zane and Kenzie Applegate great great grandchildren Roman and Bronson Hazen numerous other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents her husband two brothers, George and Francis Clark and one sister, Ima Jean Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the First Osage Baptist Church of Fairfax with grandson Jay Clapp presiding assisted by Bro. John Young. Burial will follow in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home.
Casket bearers are John David Clapp, Ted Smith, C.J. Daley, Greg Daley, Dennis Hutcheson and Larry Hutcheson.
