Mildred Louise Hightower Thompson, longtime resident of the Fairfax area, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of 87. Mildred was born February 16, 1922 in Quinton, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh County. She was the daughter of Arch Cleveland Hightower and Beulah Christina Fisher Hightower. She was married to Joe J. Thompson on July 27, 1942 in Alhambra, California. In addition to being a long time homemaker, Mildred was an Elder in the First United Methodist Church of Fairfax, a member of the BCPEO, charter member of the Genealogical Society, board member of the Fairfax Area Historical and Genealogical Society and member of the Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Ann Anson and husband, Travis, of Ralston and Christina Jane Moxley and husband, Carl, of rural Fairfax; four grandchildren: Michelle Leigh Anson Black, Melissa Dawn Anson, Michael D. Moxley, and Tammy J. Moxley, Three great grandchildren: JadeAnn Leigh Black, Kyle Christopher Black and Shadin Gage Anson; one brother, Bob Hightower and one sister, Margaret Jane Phillippe. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, John Jack William Hightower and one grandson, Wesley Moxley. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009 in the First United Methodist Church of Fairfax with Ministers Sam Downs and Troy Pultz presiding. Interment will be in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home. Casket bearers will be Michael Moxley, Bryan Leeper, Warren Black, Joe Hightower, Michael Hightower and Chris Ballinger. Honorary casket bearer will be Gary Funk.
