Mildred Evelyn Kelly, resident of rural Grainola, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday morning, July 13, 2011 at her home. She was 78 years of age.
Mildred was born October 13, 1932 at Bowring, Oklahoma, the daughter of Edmond Wood and Verna Martin Wood. She received her education in the Grainola Schools and was a 1952 graduate of Grainola High School. She was a proud member of the 1950 Class B State Championship Girls Basketball Team. She was married to C.L. Kelly in June of 1952. The couple has long been engaged in farming and ranching in the Grainola community. She was a member of the Grainola Methodist Church. Her enjoyments were fishing, farming, feeding cattle, working, hunting arrowheads and artifacts with friends, playing sports, basketball, tennis and card games.
Mildred is survived by her husband, C.L., of the home two children, Shirley Kelly of Grainola and Dave Kelly of Cedar Vale, Kansas three sisters, Hilda Miller, Mary Finnegan and Jone Wright two brothers, Bernard Wood and Lee Wood 5 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren and 2 stepgreat grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Cedar Vale Cemetery in Cedar Vale, Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.
