Michael Wayne Footracer, Fairfax resident, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2010. He was 37.
Michael was born January 30, 1973 the son of Billy Footracer Jr. and LeeAnna Stubbs Footracer in Dallas, Texas. He graduated in 1991 from Window Rock High School and attended the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was also an English major with a bachelor degree from Ft. Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.
Music was Michaels life. He was a true artist and music historian. He used his talent to sing at several venues such as powwow ceremonies, rock and roll bands and karoke. He was a published writer and wonderful cook. Michael was also a participant in pool tournaments throughout the country. He was an avid OU and Dallas Cowboy fan as well as a talented baseball, basketball and football player. He is survived by his mother, LeeAnna Stubbs Footracer of Fairfax, Oklahoma father, Billy Footracer Jr children, James Clinton and Olivia Danette both of St. Michaels, Arizona brother, Bryan Kanawite of Fairfax sister, Melissa McKeel of Tecumseh, Oklahoma nephews, Justin Lytle and Jamie Lytle and Julius Kanawite and one niece, Tasha Lytle.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Tonia Danette Footracer Moody grandparents, Gerald and Mary Lee Tallchief, Jefferson Stubbs and Eleanor Footracer.
The graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Fairfax Cemetery with Reverend George Weston officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of HunsakerWooten Funeral Home.
