Marie Dobbs

Marie L. Dobbs, longtime resident of Fairfax, passed Tuesday morning, October 6, 2009 at the Fairfax Manor Nursing Center. She was 93 years of age. Marie was born May 14, 1916 at Mounds, Oklahoma, the daughter of Rex J. Harbeson and Laura Mae Shelton Harbeson. She attended schools in Shidler, Oklahoma, graduating from Shidler High School in 1935. She was married to Walter Addison Dobbs on August 21, 1950 in Wichita Falls, Texas. The couple made their first home in Shidler, moving to Fairfax in 1955. Marie was a longtime member of the First Osage Baptist Church of Fairfax. Her enjoyments included ceramics, sewing, traveling and the Fairfax Senior Citizen activities. Marie is survived by her son, Rex Miller and wife, Jo, of Carmichael, California; one daughter, Joyice Mae Cotham of Pampa, Texas; 2 brothers, James Harbeson of Ponca City and Jeff Harbeson, Webb City, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 brothers, Joe Harbeson and Jerry Harbeson and 1 sister, Etla Salyer. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2009 at the First Osage Baptist Church in Fairfax, with Rev. Wayne Taylor presiding. Interment will be in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home.
