Leonard Ray McKinney, lifelong resident of the Fairfax community, passed Monday, October 19, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was 63 years of age.
Leonard was born April 9, 1952 in Fairfax, the son of Benjamin Franklin McKinney and Leona Bernadetta (Taylor) McKinney. He attended Grayhorse School and graduated from Fairfax High School. Throughout the years Leonard was employed as an auto mechanic.
His enjoyments included visiting with friends, watching television and his cat "Kitty Kitty".
He is survived by his companion Debbie Choate and her children, Tony Choate, Mark Choate, Matthew Choate, Michael Choate and Brian Choate; Leonard's four children, Vicki Looney and husband Ronnie, of Ralston, Carrie Rogers and husband Jason, of Fairfax, Teddy McKinney and companion Mercedes Rios, of Fairfax, and Jason McKinney and companion Leslie Williams of Fairfax; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; two sisters, Madeline Yandell and husband Eugene, of Fairfax and Veta Weaver of Webb City; one brother, Glenn McKinney and wife Kathleen, of Peru, Kansas; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Penny Looney; one grandchild, Billy Jo McKinney; one sister, Mary Lou McInturf; seven brothers, James Roy McKinney, Edward Leon McKinney, William "Bill" McKinney, Ben McKinney, Melvin McKinney, Edwin Leon McKinney and Albert Marvin McKinney; one brother-in-law, Body Weaver.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at the First Osage Baptist Church in Fairfax with Rev. George Weston presiding.
