L.D. Jones, long time resident of Fairfax, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Fairfax Hospital. He was 71 years of age.

L.D. was born January 17, 1941 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the son of P.M. Jones and Maggie Wilson Jones. L.D. lived most of his life in Fairfax, but he also lived in several other Oklahoma towns, as well as Indiana and Florida.

L.D. was an oil field worker and painter. He worked for several years at NOC, and then later was a custodian for the First State Bank of Fairfax and the Fairfax Post Office. He married Dora Rush on May 29, 1959 in Fairfax. The couple had three sons, L.D. Jones, Jr. of Colorado, Rick Jones and companion, Ann, of Oklahoma City, and James Jones of Shreveport, Louisiana. L.D. later married Pat Stevens and was blessed with three stepchildren, Albert Stevens and wife, Sharon, of Shreveport, Louisiana, Ronnie Stevens of Ponca City, and Robin Smith, and husband, Ronnie, of Fairfax.

He enjoyed playing the guitar and spending time with his family and friends. L.D. played guitar in church and extensively used his playing as a ministry in nursing homes, homeless shelters, and at the Billings Fairchild Center. He was a people person, and would lend a helping hand to anyone. He loved his early morning coffee at the Roller Inn and at Cindy and Rogers Caf in Ralston. But most of all, he enjoyed sharing his love for the Lord. For several years, he attended the Osage Heights Baptist Church in Ponca City and was a member of the Burbank Baptist Church.

L.D. is survived by his children and stepchildren mentioned above brothers, Woodrow Wilson of Sand Springs and Raymond Wilson and wife, Linda, of Arkansas City, Kansas sisters Irene Smith and husband, Clay, of Arkansas City, Kansas, LaVon Huff and husband, Don, of Fairfax sisterinlaw, Lorene Wilson fifteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents his first wife, Dora brothers, Earl and Jimmy sisters Marie and Pearl brothersinlaw, Leslie Dilbeck, Louis Quast and Roy Wilson and sistersinlaw, Jeannie Wilson and Dorothy Wilson.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the First Osage Baptist Church in Fairfax with Burbank Baptist Church minister, Rev. Dennis Wildman presiding, assisted by former Burbank pastor, Chris Cooper. Interment will follow in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home.

Casket bearers will be Michael Jones, Donald Wilson, Johnnie Wilson, Roy Lee Wilson, Terry Willard and Larry Goad

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Burbank Baptist Church, 109 S. 1st Street, Burbank, Oklahoma 74633.
