Joann Rowan

JoAnn Rowan longtime resident of Kaw City, passed Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Fairfax Hospital. She was 81 years of age.

JoAnn was born September 27, 1929 in rural Kaw City, the daughter of Henry J. Hammer and Frances M. Williams Hammer. She was a 1947 graduate of Shidler High School where she was a drum majorette. She then completed nursing school at the University of Oklahoma. She was married to John Rowan in December of 1954. Mr. Rowan preceded her in death in 1983. JoAnn was a Registered Nurse, having worked at the Ponca City Hospital and several years at the Fairfax Hospital. She was a member of the Shidler First Christian Church. Her enjoyments included flowers, music and her beloved dogs.

She is survived by her brother, Richard Hammer and wife, Dorothy, of Webb City one nephew, Rick Hammer and wife, Paula, of Shidler. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery East of Ponca City. Rev. Doug Scott, Pastor of the Shidler First Christian Church will preside. Arrangements are under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.
