Jewel Cellan

Jewel Inez Hooper Cellan went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Fairfax Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was 98 years old.
Jewel was born February 1, 1912 in Wynona, Oklahoma to Henry Clay and Martha Delinda Merriman Hooper. She came to Fairfax, Oklahoma in 1925 and attended Fairfax High School.
On December 24, 1930 she was united in marriage to Eugene Sawyers. To this union were born four daughters, Betty Vaught of Fairfax, Freida and Rick Johnson of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Deana Cooper of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Judy and Andy Rivas of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Eugene preceded her in death in 1961.
She married Clarence Simnitt of Yale, Oklahoma in 1968. She operated the Style Shoppe and Spot Bargain Shop in Fairfax for several years. She retired from business at age 70.
In 1986 she met and married Cecil Cellan of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. They traveled extensively in their short marriage but called Pawhuska home.
Jewel was blessed by being born into a large loving family. She had a passion for life and passed that and her love onto her family and all who knew her. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards and games, music and dancing and being with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters and sonsinlaw one stepson, Jerry Simnitt of San Francisco, California two stepdaughters, Connie Smith and Clara Smith, both of Stillwater, Oklahoma two sisters, Mary Miller of Lamar, Missouri and Louise Cochran of Anchorage, Alaska 20 grandchildren 30 greatgrandchildren and 12 great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents husbands one stepson seven sisters two brothers one granddaughter and one great granddaughter.
The memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 8, 2010 at New Hope Fellowship, 161 N. 5th Street, Fairfax, Oklahoma. Pastor Bill Bray will officiate.
