Jeff Irons, age 65, passed away Sunday morning November 21, 2021 at his home in Tyler, Texas. Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday November 28 at the Grayhorse Chapel with Father Desmond Ibeneme and services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, also at Grayhorse Chapel. Internment will follow at Fairfax City Cemetery under direction of Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home. Jeff will be at Grayhorse Chapel starting Saturday evening.
Jeff was born December 15, 1955, and raised in Fairfax, OK by his parents Belford and Imogene Irons. He graduated Fairfax High School and attended both Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. He was a graduate of Missouri Auctioneering School in Kansas City, MO and was always practicing his auctioneering skills.
Jeff met his wife Theresa while attending OSU and they married in 1982. The lived in Perry, OK for 7 years, Oklahoma City for 25 years and Tyler, Texas for the last 7 years. During those years he worked as a Perry police officer, an Investigator for the Oklahoma State Auditor’s Office, a Grant Manager for the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, and as Grant Manager for the Osage Nation.
Jeff was proud of his Osage / Sac & Fox heritage and loved to tell everyone he met that he was from Osage county. He enjoyed golf, team roping, fishing, and hunting. He continued to play golf right up until he died despite his declining heath. Jeff was very fun loving and always considered all his friends as family, and he always ended up knowing everyone, everywhere he went. He had a big heart and loved people - especially kids. He was a great father, husband, brother, cousin, friend, and neighbor. He always tried to do right, and it shows still through today.
He is survived by his wife Theresa, his son Matt, and daughter Elizabeth Irons. His siblings Chris Roan, Tincy Fish, Sylvia Butler, and brother Barry.
Pallbearers for the service will be Mark Bowman, Jeff Lockett, George Neff, Fred Marshall, Huey Wolfvoice, and Chuck Tillman.
