James F Barnett passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in Fairfax, OK at 82 years of age. The son of Fred and Ethel Beatrice (Lee) Barnett, he was born in Fairfax on July 29. 1934.
Known to family and friends as Jim, he grew up and graduated high school in Fairfax. Following graduation while working for Halliburton, he started in the insurance business, which he later managed. Jim also served his country as a member of the National Guard.
He married Dolores Goad on August 4, 1955 in Bartlesville OK. In 1968 the family moved to Edmond OK, returning to Fairfax in 2004.
His enjoyments included fishing, golfing and watching Football, especially OU. In his younger years he liked to camp, boat, water ski and travel as well. As a past member of the Fairfax Jaycees, he served as President and later joined the Elk Club at Edmond OK.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Barnett and five children: Janet Barnett of Oklahoma City, OK; Mary Hepsi Barnett of Golden, Colorado; James (Barney) Barnett of Newcastle, OK; Dolores (Liz) Barnett of Edmond, OK; and Melissa Langley of Morrison, Colorado. He was also survived by: a sister, Betty Argo of Nowata, OK; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held 10a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016 in the New Hope Church with Pastor Ron Smith officiating. Interment to follow in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home
