Harold Earl Gamble, longtime resident of Fairfax, passed Sunday morning, October 11, 2009 at his home. He was 88 years of age. Harold was born August 29, 1921 in Blue Mountain, Arkansas, the son of Herbert Earl Gamble and Ola Florence Yarbrough Gamble. He was a 1939 graduate of Fairfax High School. He was married to Carolyn Elizabeth Thornburg on December 28, 1941 in Osage County. Harold was a farmerrancher throughout his years but also had employments that included being a bull dozer operator, owning and operating Gambles Main Street Recreation Center, Osage County road supervisor, a bulk plant operator with Halliburton and working for the City of Fairfax as a bull dozer operator at the landfill. His wife Carolyn preceded him in death on June 22, 1980. Harold was married to Hazel Stephens on October 23, 1981 in Miami, Oklahoma with Hazel preceding him in death on October 10, 2009 just a few hours prior to Harolds passing. Harold was a 60 plus year member of the Grayhorse Masonic Lodge where he had earned his 32nd Degree. In earlier years Harold enjoyed calf roping and in later years playing dominos and cards. He is survived by his three children, Bill Gamble of Fairfax, Marilyn Williams and husband, Allen of Alvarado, Texas, and Sherrie Brewer and husband, Garry, of Poway, California; four step-children and their spouses, Valerie and Charlie Jones, Wilson, Oklahoma, Faye and Jim Collins, Cleveland, Oklahoma, Bob and Brenda Stephens, Norman, Oklahoma and Kelly and Wanda Stephens of Fairfax; four grandchildren, Mike Williams, Rob Brewer, Lendi Williams and Jon Brewer; three great grandchildren, Myka Williams, Noah Brewer and Ava Brewer; 13 step-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; three sisters, Mildred Stoneman, Ruby Nell Mayse and Helen Smith. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Fairfax Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. George Weston presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home. Casket bearers will be Wade Bevill, Don Crabtree, Henry Johnston, Dicky Johnston, Gary Madison and Floyd Kelley II.
