Gary grew up in Burbank and remained there his entire life, as did his parents and grandparents. Gary’s paternal grandfather made the Oklahoma land run in 1893, and then relocated to Burbank to work in the oilfield.

Gary then graduated from Oklahoma State, Okmulgee and then continued his education at Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Education. They were blessed with two sons, Jerry Don and Terry Wayne of Burbank.
Gary worked as a mechanic, pumper for an oil company, an Osage County truck driver, then taught auto mechanics at Shidler High School where he retired in 1994. Highlights of Gary’s retirement were hearing from former students.
He was active in the Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent and Adult Sunday School Teacher. Gary served his community by sitting on the Burbank School Board, an officer of the Burbank Alumni Association, the Town of Burbank Board of Trustees, and the Mayor of Burbank. Gary retired from the Burbank Volunteer Fire Department after serving 21 years.
Gary and Minnie loved following their sons to all their various sports, 4-H activities, and boy scout events. They also enjoyed supporting their grandchildren’s activities throughout the years.
