Doil Gene Harp, longtime resident of both Ponca City and Fairfax, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009. He was 72. Doil was born the son of Clarence Richard Harp and Gleta Lavada Wolf Harp on December 7, 1936 in Okemah, Oklahoma. He grew up in the Shidler area and graduated from Shidler Public Schools. After high school, Doil was employed at Chicago Bridge and Iron Company for several years. Doil married the love of his life and best friend, Linda Lantz on March 20, 1959. Doil later enlisted in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He proudly served his country until his honorable discharge. After military service he went back to work at Chicago Bridge and Iron Company. And later was self employed specializing in television, appliance, heat and air repair. During his younger years he enjoyed working on the ranch and raising horses. He liked growing tomatoes and keeping the rose bushes neatly trimmed for his wife. Doil also loved fishing and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He is survived by his son, Brian Harp and wife, Sharon of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Joshua Harp of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Caleb Harp of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Sara Harp of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by is parents, Clarence and Gleta; step-mother, Betty Jane Tillett Harp; loving wife, Linda; brothers, Harold L. Harp and Clarence R. Harp Jr.; sisters, Ruby Azalene Hight and Cloeata Jacaulyn Harp; grandchildren, Lindsey Harp and Summer Harp. Casket bearers for the service will be Gary Lantz, Steve Lantz, Joshua Harp, Caleb Harp and Tom Currier. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2009 at Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home with The Rev. Bob Leonard officiating. Interment will follow at Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home.
