Dennis "Duck" Ray Culver, former Fairfax resident, of Youngsville, Louisiana left us on July 1, 2023, surrounded by his family at home. He was 71 years young.
Born on February 16, 1952, to Bob and Verna Carole (Hunsaker) Culver, he was raised in Fairfax where he married the love of his life, Rosalene Fields, on Wednesday, November 26, 1969, at the Assembly of God Church on 2nd Street. In 1970 he graduated with his Red Devil classmates. During his school years, he attended the Baptist Church; played football; belonged to the auto mechanics club; and worked with his grandfather Delbert Hunsaker at the Hunsaker Furniture Store and Hunsaker Funeral Home.
He started his long career (41 years) in life with Halliburton, leading him to many places. He worked his way up through the company and became a Service Coordinator and many of his customers became friends. He eventually landed in Louisiana where he lived for the last 25 years.
Dennis loved fishing, camping, and spending time with his family, grandkids, and great grandkids. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and he and Rosalene took several trips with his Rig Riders motorcycle group. He was an avid gardener growing several kinds of vegetables. He loved spending time with his wife Rosie and their two four legged girls.
Today he is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rosalene Culver; sons, Dennis Ray Culver, Jr. of the home, Brandon DeWayne (Tammy) Culver of Duncan, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Anthony, Tiffany, Selena, Christopher, Kevin, Wyatt, and MacKayla; eight great grandchildren Adrian, Addison, Genie, Neveah, Isabella, Jamie Lynn, Karter, and Kloe; four siblings Carole, Janice, Brent, and Brad; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Dennis is united in paradise with his parents Bob and Verna Culver; aunts, Maxine and Vera; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
All family & friends who knew and loved Dennis are invited to a come and go luncheon at Ralston Senior Citizens from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023. A Memorial Service will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home Chapel in Fairfax with Pastor Mike Brock presiding. Honorary pallbearers are his sons, Dennis Culver Jr., and Brandon Culver.
We will miss him terribly.
