Cleo Marie (Robertson) Abbott, longtime Fairfax resident, gained her wings and left this world early in the dawn on Monday, October 25, 2021, to enter Heaven’s gates.
She was 78.She was born in Sugar Grove, Arkansas the daughter of Robert Wesley and Ella Vernice (Weaver) Robertson, Sr. on Sunday, April 25, 1943. Her father and grandfather, Howard L. Robertson were of Cherokee descent, and she was also Irish and Dutch.
Cleo spent most of the first four years of her life in Sugar Grove until the family came to the Fairfax-Ralston area in August of 1947. Once here, she attended schools at Ralston with her many brothers and sisters at her side. It may have been the beginning of her homemaking skills- practicing her cooking on her siblings that is.
Cleo and Donald Abbot tied the knot at Little Rock, Ark. with this marriage the two families became one. In the early years of their marriage the couple spent hours fishing while enjoying a cool drink, they also took a few spins on the dance floor occasionally.
An avid TV fan, on a daily schedule, you could often find her watching her favorite soap opera, The Young and the Restless, or a good ‘ole Western at other times. Come football season, watch out! the TV would be tuned to either one of her favorite sports teams, the Dallas Cowboys or OU Sooners, depending on who was playing at the time, and no one had better interrupt the game!!! Ironically, her favorite color was purple unless of course it was game time.
Cleo enjoyed her gigantic family, from the youngsters to the eldest, she loved them all dearly. As a homemaker she would prepare meals and cook for days at a time. Her home was always neat and tidy, freeing up her time to read a good romance novel.
She will be warmly remembered by her husband Don of the home, two daughters Wytonia Valencia and Linda Parker both of Fairfax; sons Mikeal Chitwood of Van Buren, Ark., Robert Chitwood of Fairfax and Anthony Chitwood of Tipton, Okla.; two brothers Johnny Robertson of Enid and George Robertson of Fairfax; a ton of extended family including grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, two sons James Elliott and Thomas Chitwood, five brothers Lee Wilkerson, Howard Robertson, Kenneth Robertson, Lloyd ‘Ray’ Robertson, Dober Robertson, two sisters Bernice Roach and Ruby Hawks and stepson Donnie Abbott.
