Clara Leona Tate, longtime resident of Fairfax, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011 at her home. She was 92 years of age.
Clara was born May 13, 1918 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma, the daughter of Richard Callaway Jr. and Etta Ilene Evans Callaway. She was a 1936 graduate of Fairfax High School. She was married to Marion Elmo Tate on December 12, 1942 in Roswell, New Mexico.
She was a member of the Fairfax First United Methodist Church where she had been a member of the Methodist Womens Auxiliary. Her enjoyments were sewing, cooking, baking, and spending time with her beloved family.
Clara is survived by her daughter, DeeAnna Tate Condry of Fairfax seven granddaughters, Shelly Wilks, Stacy Darter, Kris Ann Waterman, Brandi Shipp, Dena Webb, Ashlee Bellamy and Devon Ryan Elaine Sellers eight great grandchildren, Franklin Shipp, Cale Darter, Christopher Tate Moody, Jonathan Moody, Rafe Darter, Leslie Shipp, Addison Miller and Shae Bellamy two great great grandchildren, Audree Cox and Cameron Cox numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents husband one daughter, Elaine Hazen a great grandson, Davin Cox one sister, Nora one brother, Richard Callaway one stillborn child.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Fairfax. Burial will follow in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.
Casket bearers are Jake Shipp, Jake Webb, Franklin Shipp, Alex Brown, Nathaniel McCartney and Jimmy Dufek. Honorary casket bearers are Tom Drummond and Randy Dildine.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Fairfax.
