Clara May Jeep Diehm, resident of rural Red Rock, and former longtime resident of Fairfax, passed Thursday morning, December 17, 2009 at the Stillwater Medical Center. She was 79 years of age. Clara May was born February 8, 1930 at Winfield, Kansas, the daughter of George Elliott and Viola Howerton Elliott. She grew up in the Naval Reserve community southeast of Fairfax and attended the Grayhorse grade school and graduated from Fairfax High School. She had been employed in earlier years as an accountant for the Fairfax and Pawnee Cattle Sale Barns, an Oil Company secretary and was well known as an employee of the Fairfax Flower Shop. Clara May was a former member of the Fairfax First Christian Church and was currently a member of the Word of Life Church in Ponca City. Her enjoyments included her grandchildren and her church activities, and in earlier years making blankets, sewing and was known as an excellent cook. She is survived by her husband, Martin, of the home; three children, Richard Thompson and wife, Lora, of Searcy, Arkansas, Kim Gilliland and husband, Dennis, of Morrison, Oklahoma and David Diehm of Marland, Oklahoma; one sister, Bonnie Mason of Fairfax; seven grandchildren, Summer Gardner, Elysia Broughton, Buffy Parker, Quinn Thompson, Lisa Carl, Gary Gilliland and Shellie Gilliland; also seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Marsha Thompson Gardner. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Fairfax First Christian Church with Rev. Bob Innis of the Word of Life Church, Ponca City presiding. Burial will be in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home of Fairfax. Casket bearers will be Scott Flanagan, Tug Broughton, Gary Gilliland, Nick Parker, Quinn Thompson and Kyle LaFosse. Honorary casket bearers will be Bill Elliott, Jerry Goddard, Larry Olsen, David Harris, Mitch Smith and David Hesser. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Mrs. Diehm to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 Northeast 13th, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104.
