Bonnie Jo Barrett, resident of Fairfax, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Fairfax Manor Nursing Home. She was 79.
Bonnie was born July 11, 1931 at Cardwell, Missouri, the daughter of Marshall Herman Smith and Ida Mae Thomas Smith. She received her early education in the Russell, Arkansas and Watervliet, Michigan schools. She was married to Henry Harold Barrett on August 18, 1953 in Winfield, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Doniphan, Missouri and moved to Fairfax in May of 1990. She was a member of the Fairfax First Assembly of God Church and her enjoyments included her church work, gardening, singing, sewing and socializing.
She is survived by her five children, Sarah Sexton and husband, David, of Kingman, Arizona, Ruth Bradbury and husband, Richard, Cleveland, Oklahoma, Harold Duane Barrett and wife, Rosalie, of Ponca City, LaWanda Bohard and husband, Johnny, of Fairview, Oklahoma and Judy Smith of Lexington, Missouri her eight siblings, Clint Smith and wife, Eula, Richard Smith and wife, Barb, Gerald Smith and wife, Dorothy, Bill Smith and wife, Judy, Sarah Messer, Marilyn Bass, Dale Smith and Lynn Smith 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband one brother, Sam Smith, and one grandchild, Brook Bohard.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Fairfax Cemetery with LaVerne Money presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of the HunsakerWooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.
