Bobby Eugene Stingley, resident of rural Ponca City, passed Monday morning, October 19, 2009 at his home in Osage County . He was 77 years of age. Bobby was born on the family farm east of Ponca City on June 1, 1932. He attended St. Marys Catholic School in Ponca City, graduating in 1950. He was inducted into the United States Army on June 10, 1953 and was assigned to the 48th Engineering Battalion. He was honorably discharged from the Army on May 6, 1955. Bob was married to Billie Gilbert on December 23, 1953 in Fairfax, Oklahoma. The couple was engaged in farming and raising cattle on Bobbys family farm in Osage County. He was a member of the Osage Nation; the Osage Cattlemens Association; the Pawhuska Elks Club and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Fairfax. Bobby was an avid collector of Bob Wills memorabilia; he enjoyed watching the western TV. channel and traveling, having made two trips to Australia. He is survived by his wife, Billie, of the home; one son, Robert E. Stingley and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Wamego, of Ponca City; one grandson, Robert A. Stingley; one brother, Elmo J. Stingley of Stillwater, Oklahoma; brothers-in-law, Ray H. Parris and Lee Weber; sister-in-law, Charlene Stingley; other brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat and J.T. Kelly, Mark and Frankie Goad, Donnie Buckles and Pat Gilbert; several nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Billie Jo Stingley; one brother, Bill Stingley; three sisters, Mary Jane Weber, Joanna Parris and Jewell Stingley. A rosary service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, October 21, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fairfax. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Bruce Brosnahan presiding. Burial will follow in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home of Fairfax. Casket bearers will be Mark Freeman III, Billy Box, Brad Irons, Richard Rennie, Jon Hinman and Joe Cheshwalla. Honorary casket bearers will be Phillip Fortune, John Burnett and Steve Grassman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carter Healthcare and Hospice, 2324 West Owen K. Garriott, Enid, Oklahoma 73703-5535.
