Arlene Rose Christenson, resident of Burbank, passed Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Fairfax Manor Nursing Home. She was 78 years of age.
Rose was born September 3, 1936 at Pawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Floris and Kelly Brandenburg. She graduated with the Class of 1954 in Parsons, Kansas. She worked as a caregiver and office nurse for Dr. Geiger and Dr. Mays in the lab and x-ray department of the Fairfax Hospital. She was also was a substitute school teacher at the Ralston School. She and her sister Joyce went to school in Oklahoma City where Rose earned a license as an "Advanced Instructor of Cosmetology".
Rose could sing in harmony with anyone and was an oil painting artist, and former Sunday School teacher at the Burbank First Baptist Church. Rose had traveled extensively with family to Hawaii, Isle of Capri, London, England, Rome, Italy, Paris, France and Jerusalem.
With all her physical afflictions of M.S., severe arthritis, broken neck from an auto accident and cancer, she maintained her loving and snappy personality. As she would say when she pulled a stunt on herself or others, "Old Indian Trick", "Old, Old Indian Trick". She was also a devoted caregiver to her pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kelly and Floris Brandenburg; her husband Bob Christenson; one sister, Joyce Brandenburg; one brother, Kelly Brandenburg, one niece and one nephew.
She is survived by twin sister, Carole Grimm and husband Roy, of Ralston, sister Kay Mickelson and husband Vernell, of Grand Junction, Colorado; three step-children, Wendy Dunn and husband Eric, Bobbie R. Christenson, Carrie Patterson; five step-grandchildren Tucker, Mason and Jessica, Cassie and James; she was a great auntie to her nephews Rick Whannel and Bradley Grimm, Branden, Mark, Kelly and Daniel; nieces Stephanie and Davelan.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Burbank with Pastor Dennis Wildman presiding, assisted by former Pastor Chris Cooper. Interment was in the Burbank Cemetery under the direction of the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.
Casket bearers were J.D. McEachern, Brad Grimm, Justin Grimm, Branden Whannel, Bobbie Christenson and Terry Willard. Honorary casket bearers were Roy Grimm, Richard Whannel and Mason Patterson.
