Amber Hightower

Amber Hightower, age 62, joined the angels in Heaven on Monday afternoon, December 7, 2020 while a patient in Alliance Hospital of Ponca City, Oklahoma.

She became a part of this world on Sunday, August 3, 1958 born to parents Robert “Bob” Franklin Fuller and Ola Jean Stoneman Fuller in Fairfax, Okla. As the youngest of two children, waiting her arrival was big brother Robert “Wayne” Fuller. They were raised in Fairfax and attended school in the Fairfax Public School System.  Amber was a cheerleader in both her junior high and high school years. During her junior year she caught the eye of a young man, Robert “Bobby” Gray and they were wed February 28, 1975. At the time she was finishing high school, she became a homemaker and in August 1975 a mother. The next Spring Amber and Wayne graduated together as proud members of the 1976 Red Devil Class.

Amber was blessed with two awesome sons, first Cody, then Quentin in August 1980 while married to Bobby. In June 1999, Amber met the love of her life Joe Hightower at the Fairfax School Alumni dance. They were married on December 1, 2001 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  She gladly welcomed his three children- Haili, Kelsie and Cody Hightower into her life.

First employed at the First State Bank in Fairfax as a teller Amber later managed Formby’s Foods. Upon returning to work at the bank she traveled to the Ralston branch where she worked for a combined total of over 25 years in banking. Her job kept her in close contact with the public and everyone loved her courteous customer service. She eventually went back to work as manager of Human Resources for the Robert Clark Health Clinic. A position she held until 2019. Amber also worked on the farm alongside husband Joe where she was the main manager over the pecan crops. She supplied many a happy customer with home-grown pecans the past several years.

One of the greatest fans of her children and grandchildren, Amber enjoyed attending all sporting events and cheering her children on as well as her grandchildren! Go Cougars!

A member of the First Osage Baptist Church in Fairfax she had accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized on June 12, 1968. Amber was always ready to go and enjoyed taking cruises with her girlfriends, going to the Casinos, and traveling with sister-in-law Debbie on her Princess cruises and events. She also liked sewing, quilting, and cooking for her family. She prepared huge everyday meals and consistently had family gatherings at her home. The last few years she met monthly with the girls to play Bunco and was active in the Fun Club cherishing her time spent with the ladies playing Bingo.

Amber leaves behind her husband of the home Joe; sons Cody (Holly) Gray of Peyton, Colorado, Quentin Gray of Fairfax, and Cody and Randa Hightower; daughters Haili (Scott) Gibson and Kelsie (Markus) Paslay all from the Big Bend community. Grandchildren include Case Gray, Cole Gray, Hanna Gray, Aaron Gray, Hadlee Gibson, Lane Gibson, Penny Gibson, Braili Paslay, Maylee Paslay, Lilly Paslay, Kellon Roubedeaux, and Nicole Roubedeaux. Further survived by her cousins and sister-in-law Carla Fuller Meeks and dear life-long friends.

Meeting her in heaven were her parents, Bob (March 1996) Ola Jean (Sept. 2001) her maternal grandparents, Fred and Mildred (Gamble) Stoneman and paternal grandparents Lee and Daisy (Arnett) Fuller, her brother Wayne (April 1995), grandson Bryce Paslay, and father-in-law Bob Hightower.

Funeral Services to remember a wonderful woman will be held 2pm, Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the First Osage Baptist Church Fairfax with Pastor Kyle Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Pixley Cemetery in the Big Bend community. Pallbearers are Cody Gray, Quentin Gray, Aaron Gray, Cody Hightower, Scott Gibson, and Markus Paslay.
