Alex Joseph "Hunky" Tallchief IV, longtime resident of Fairfax, passed Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Fairfax Hospital. He was 74 years of age.
Alex was born May 7, 1941 in Fairfax. He was a graduate of Fairfax High School and completed welding trade school. He had been employed as a pipeline welder.
He was a member of the Pipeline Union 798 and had served on the Grayhorse Tribal Committee. His enjoyments were horses, horse racing, dog racing and taking part in the Osage Ceremonial Dance, I'n-Lon-Schka.
He is survived by his step-son, Billy Roberts of Fairfax; one sister, Nettie Vickers of Kansas; three grandchildren, Brittany Tallchief of Hominy, Julia Tallchief and Michael Tallchief, both of Pawhuska; 6 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters; several step-grandchildren; numerous other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sons, Alex Tallchief V and John A. Tallchief.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the Grayhorse Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fairfax with Father Chris Daigle presiding. Burial will follow in the Grayhorse Cemetery under the direction of the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home.
Casket bearers are Billy Roberts, Tim Roberts, Jake Roberts, Billy Robertson, Rick Ehler and Travis Shields. Honorary casket bearers are Al Schambron, Pat Stone, Denny Heath, Roger Potter, Steve Graham and Kent Dummer.
